Description
Tea is a widely consumed hot beverage in India, prepared by brewing black tea leaves with water, milk, and sugar. Often simply referred to as chai, it is an essential part of daily life across South India and is served in homes, tea stalls (chai kadai), offices, and eateries throughout the day.
The traditional South Indian version is typically made with strong CTC tea leaves boiled with water and milk until thick and frothy. Sugar is added to taste, and sometimes crushed ginger or cardamom is included for added aroma. It is served piping hot in steel tumblers or glass cups, often alongside snacks like vadai, biscuits, or puff.
Tea is consumed throughout Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka as a morning ritual and evening refreshment and remains an everyday favorite among Indian families in Mississauga, Scarborough, and Brampton.
