Description
Sweet Lassi is a traditional North Indian yogurt-based drink made by blending thick curd with sugar and cardamom, served chilled as a refreshing and cooling beverage. Originating from Punjab, this classic drink is widely consumed across India during summer months and after heavy meals to aid digestion.
Prepared by whisking fresh curd until smooth, sweet lassi is flavored with cardamom, rose water, or saffron, and topped with a garnish of chopped pistachios or malai (cream). It is served thick and frothy in tall glasses, especially during mid-day meals or festivals. In some South Indian households, versions of sweet lassi are also prepared with jaggery or flavored with fruit pulp.
Sweet Lassi remains a popular choice in restaurants and homes across Delhi, Amritsar, and Lucknow, and continues to be enjoyed by Indian families in Mississauga, Brampton, and Calgary, particularly during warmer months.
