Description
Paneer Kondattam is a spicy, semi-dry vegetarian dish inspired by Kerala’s fiery kondattam style, where crispy paneer cubes are tossed in a thick red chili masala. Designed as a vegetarian counterpart to popular meat-based kondattams, this dish is bold, flavorful, and ideal as a starter or side.
Paneer cubes are marinated in turmeric, chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, and lemon juice, then deep-fried until golden. They are then tossed in a hot pan with garlic, green chilies, curry leaves, and a thick tamarind-chili paste. The masala is roasted until it coats each paneer piece, creating a spicy, tangy, and slightly crisp finish.
Paneer Kondattam is increasingly popular in Kerala-style vegetarian cafés and homes in cities like Ernakulam, Kottayam, and Thrissur, and continues to gain attention among spicy food lovers in Mississauga, Brampton, and Scarborough.
